Tagtool 1.5.2 available now
New Tagtool and Tagtool SE releases have just launched, bringing a range of bug fixes and speed improvements to iPad, Windows, and Mac OS X users.
We're pleased to let you know that Tagtool 1.5.2 is now available, with various improvements and bug fixes. Tagtool SE has been updated as well. Check out the Release Notes below for more details.
To update to the latest Tagtool or Tagtool SE version on iPad, open the App Store, tap your profile image, scroll down to find Tagtool, and select "Update."
For Tagtool Desktop, the newest versions for macOS and Windows can be downloaded from the Tagtool App page.
Please be aware that the desktop beta versions are unsupported and provided as-is. Their main use is to share the Tagtool canvas with other visuals apps using NDI, Spout or Syphon. You can join Tagtool running on iPads to the Desktop version over Wifi or Ethernet using the multiplayer feature.
Thank you to the beta testers for their useful feedback!

Release Notes
Redesigned Menus
The whole menu was rebuilt to be cleaner and easier to navigate:
- Simpler Network menu — choose Local or Online first, see who’s connected and which region you’re in right at the top.
- Improved Canvas menu, with new presets (including vertical)
- Clearer Output settings — recording, display options and file location (Mac/PC) gathered in one place with at-a-glance summaries.
- Quick access to language settings and lefthanded switch in the main menu footer
- Many translations fixed and polished across Spanish, Portuguese, German, and Chinese.
Layer Bunching
Duplicated layers now behave much more naturally:
- Copies stack neatly behind their originals instead of scattering, so duplicates stay tidy and easy to manage.
- You can drag a duplicate away from the bunch when you want to separate it.
- Ungrouping fans layers out smoothly from where the group was, and re-bunches duplicates sensibly.
Better Video Recording
- More professional codecs on PC and Mac — added ProRes (422 HQ and 4444) on Windows and Mac, plus HAP.
- Transparent video recording without the need to install codecs (using HAP, Animation or ProRes 4444)
- Simplified video options, with at-a-glance summary
Other improvements
- Further online multiplayer improvements for transfer speed and sync reliability, plus the reworked Network menu
- Donut universe improvements - fixed inconsistencies at the edges of the donut universe
- Privacy: removed all user tracking. Auto-generated nicknames are now anonymous (rather than using your device name)
